Low Voltage Technician

Advanced Prop Tech, LLC is a leading In-Building Systems Integrator serving the real estate community. We market technology infrastructure to existing properties and new construction to developers, property managers, general contractors, electrical contractors, low voltage design firms, and architects that serve the multi-family industry and commercial office markets.  

We are seeking a Low Voltage Technician to join our rapidly growing team. You will design, install, and configure a variety of low-voltage systems, including:

Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive, onsite audio/visual equipment installation, including Control 4 systems low voltage wiring, trim-out, equipment rack setup, LCD, projectors and projection systems, audio hardware and speakers, and control systems
  • Perform cable pull paths, diagnose structural/room interior for efficient and optimum installations, crimp and terminate audio and video cables
  • Install access control cabling, keypads and connect to magnetic locks or electric strikes.
  • Install Smart door locks and thermostats, commission the systems, and train property management.
  • Assist with the installation of displays, screens, and projectors
  • Maintain professional work appearance and outstanding customer service

​Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in telecommunications, electrical engineering, or other related fields.  A low voltage license is a plus or desire to acquire a license that we will support.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications/low-voltage equipment
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and test low voltage cables and fiber optic cables.
  • Route cable through conduit, above ceilings, and between floors per job specifications.
  • Be able to travel extensively 
  • Provide or relocate cable and modular connections.
  • Assist in the installation of communications hardware.
  • Complete projects within budget, on time, and in a safe manner.

  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
  • Work independently while understanding the need for communication and coordination of work efforts with other team members, departments, or organizations.

Working Environment

  • Regularly exposed to work in non-climate-controlled environments.
  • May be exposed to airborne particles and dirt in outdoor or construction environments.
  • Noise levels can be high depending on the work site and tools required.

Physical requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

The employee must regularly:

  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms for up to eight hours daily.
  • Must be able to coordinate hands and eyes while using automated tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to handle various items, equipment, control knobs, switches, etc.
  • Must be able to use one hand for twisting or turning motions while coordinating the other hand with different activities. Must have average levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
  • Must be able to climb up and down ladders (8 feet routinely)
  • Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl in all environments (basements, crawl spaces, attic/ceilings, etc.).
